My quilting journey began when I was a small girl. My “Mama” babysat my sisters and me and taught us many things about sewing that we still use today. Quilting for You became official in March of 2003. I began quilting my own personal quilts that had been stacked up for quite some time in the corner. It was not long before I discovered using a domestic machine was not the answer for me. Many neck and back issues were not liking what I was doing at all. I then purchased a Pfaff Grand Quilter and I was in LOVE!!! But not for long, I quickly discovered that this machine was not giving me enough room do the type of quilting I was looking to do. So, you guessed it…I purchased my first Handi Quilter machine! Handi Quilter was just getting off the ground themselves so, I guess, I can say we grew together! Many machines later, I am still loving Handi Quilter products, the support they offer, and the friendships that have formed!
It was not always a delight to be quilting. When I first began my journey, it was impossible for find any long-arm quilting education. Kimmy Bruner of Farmington, MN, was the first person I was able to find that would take me in and help me learn the ropes! The retailers I had purchase my first two machines from did not offer any assistance, education, nor, did they know much about the machines they were selling me. It was a real challenge to juggle four part-time jobs, three young boys, and start up a business no one was willing to help me with. I had to research what needles to use in my machine as the retailer did not even know that! What had I done??? My husband was against me even purchasing the machine as we did not have the funds at that time to buy something for a hobby that cost that much money! I made a vow to myself right then and there, that I will never use our personal money to support my quilting. And I have not in all these years! I also vowed when I became a Handi Quilter Retailer that not one of my customers would struggle the way I had! So, I attend factory training at least once per year in Salt Lake City, Utah! This keeps me up to date on the tech side as well as on our product and education side. I pride myself on providing my customers with the very best experience throughout their entire journey.
I continue to offer education, service, products, and support to my customers for as long as they own their machines. I currently have customers in North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, South Dakota, Arkansas and Maryland.
Quilting for You has been a Handi Quilter Award Winning Retailer since the inception of the HQ Way Award in 2019. To earn this honor a Retailer must meet corporate benchmarks in sales, education, training, and customer support. My customers are responsible for getting me where I am today and why I am presented with this honor year after year! I could not do what I love without my customers and their loyalty and support! My customers ARE MY BUSINESS!!!
